The year is coming to an end… And it’s been a great year for pop music. Singer-songwriter and producer Daniel Kim mashed up this year’s top pop songs! Not only did he fuse 68 songs together, he also crammed 68 music videos together. We got to say, we were blown away by how good this is. He mashed these songs perfectly together. From Psy mashed with Martin Garrix to A$AP Rocky with Bauer, this was very well done. The mash-up also shows how much EDM influenced pop music this year. You can download his mash-up here.

What a memorable year in music! Rolling Stone compiled a list of their top 50 albums of 2013. You can check out the whole list here. We really enjoyed going through the list and also looking at the comments. There are definitely some shockers that didn’t make the list. Mainly, we were disappointed that Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience didn’t make the top 50. A great deal of people were also shocked that Lady Gaga’s Artpop and Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail didn’t make it. Even Miley Cyrus’s polarizing album Bangerz made the list. Honestly, we think she deserves it. Check out the list and let us know which album you felt should have made the list.
First, have you seen Kanye’s music video for “Bound 2”? Second, have you seen the hilarious spoof that James Franco and Seth Rogan did? If you haven’t experienced either, we highly suggest doing so. Speaking of which, we asked one of our favorite DJs, DeviDev when was the first time she heard this song. She has some really good insight on why this is her favorite song off of Yeezus and perhaps it’ll be yours too!
"Bound 2 is absolutely my favorite song on Kanye’s most recent album Yeezus. I heard it for the first time when his…*gasp* album leaked and like a madman I had to hear it immediately (no no don’t worry, i’m not a criminal. I also ended up purchasing the album twice) This song is absolutely incredible. Raw. Vunerable. And in the midst of a very hard to digest album, very familiar to the Kanye of past. The production especially is sampled and layered in way that’s reminicst of the pre-rapper, producer Kanye West. Soulful. A song I have literally listened to on repeat for hours when traveling mid air. Oh and did I mention that the inclusion of the legendary Charlie Wilson is pure, undiluted GENIUS. Well, it is. His part alone is deserving of being looped and repeated. Great soundtrack worthy record."- DeviDev

Yes! It’s another week of new music discovery with SoundTracking and taste-maker NegativeNatalie! With an intriguing caption on the post below - “This album is amazing. Fave Song”, we just had to ask how she discovered it!
How did you find out about Vampire Weekend’s “Step”?
"I had been wanted this album since it came out and I FINALLY got it from a friend a couple weeks ago. Listened to the whole album all the way through immediately and "Step" was my favorite song on the entire album on first listen! I love it! Super catchy! I can listen to a million times over. Funny thing is, right away I could hear some Modest Mouse influence in the song - and "such a modest mouse" is actually in the lyrics!! I love it. Everyone needs this album and needs to definitely hear this song!"- Natalie
We’re definitely feeling the Modest Mouse influence with classic Vampire Weekend vocals.
