Can it be true? Yes, you are not dreaming. Lorde is indeed set to team up with Disclosure to perform at London’s O2 Arena for the 2014 BRIT Awards on February 19th. The dream collaboration was confirmed by the BRIT Awards Twitter account on Monday. Lorde is joining an already incredible list of artist who have been featured on the Lawrence brothers’ songs, including Mary J Blige, Niles Rogers, Jessie Ware, and Sam Smith.
The new two time Grammy winner is set to go against Janelle Monae, Kate Perry (who is also performing), Lady Gaga, P!nk for the International Female solo Artist award. Disclosure is tied for most nominations with fellow Brit rockers Bastille for four nominations, including the MasterCard British Album of the Year.
Will they perform a new song or will they mash their songs together? No matter what it is, we are super stoked to see what they do. Tell us what you guys think of this collaboration.
I Love Bass Music accused Disclosure of pulling a ‘David Guetta’ aka DJ miming (we had no idea DG did that!) over the weekend at the Capital FM Summertime Ball. Summertime Ball included superstars like Taylor Swift, PSY, Will.i.am, and Robbie Williams. The miming outcry occurred just hours after Disclosure’s new album Settle topped the UK album charts.
The UK band stated that they were not intentionally trying to fool fans into thinking they were actually playing or mixing live. Disclosure stated, "Notice also that we didn’t try and make it look like we were mixing. We left the f**king plug on the floor on purpose, didn’t even plug phono leads into the master out, turned all the EQs fully down and the master out AND DIDN’T EVEN TAKE HEADPHONES for god sake!!"
Who do you think is at fault for the miming outcry, Disclosure or Capital FM?
For those of you in the Bay Area, the Treasure Island Music Festival line up was just released and it’s pretty stacked with all the indie-electronic your heart desires!
Australian pop outfit Gold Fields make ’80s new wave-influenced dance-pop. Formed in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia in 2010, Gold Fields feature vocalist Mark Robert Fuller, guitarist Vin Andanar, keyboardist Rob Clifton, bassist Luke Peldys, and drummer Ryan D’Sylva. The band released a self-titled EP in 2012 on Astralwerks and their full length debut album ‘Black Sun’ will be coming February 26th in America and March 8th in Australia / New Zealand. Their live shows have been greatly talked about and where the band really shines and comes to life. Featuring two full drum kits and plenty of handheld percussion, the Gold Fields concert experience explodes with kinetic energy. Though the band’s sound defies pigeonholing, and each song boasts a distinctive identity, a musical through-line unifies the album’s eleven originals: by juxtaposing light and darkness, Gold Fields imbues even its most ebullient performances with melancholy—and vice-versa.
We quite enjoy Gold Fields’ music, but we also wanted to know what their favorite tunes are. They’ve shared their favorite top ten tracks of 2012 with us and we’re excited to share them with you! So without further ado, here are Gold Fields’ Year End Top 10 tracks!
