Australian pop outfit Gold Fields make ’80s new wave-influenced dance-pop. Formed in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia in 2010, Gold Fields feature vocalist Mark Robert Fuller, guitarist Vin Andanar, keyboardist Rob Clifton, bassist Luke Peldys, and drummer Ryan D’Sylva. The band released a self-titled EP in 2012 on Astralwerks and their full length debut album ‘Black Sun’ will be coming February 26th in America and March 8th in Australia / New Zealand. Their live shows have been greatly talked about and where the band really shines and comes to life. Featuring two full drum kits and plenty of handheld percussion, the Gold Fields concert experience explodes with kinetic energy. Though the band’s sound defies pigeonholing, and each song boasts a distinctive identity, a musical through-line unifies the album’s eleven originals: by juxtaposing light and darkness, Gold Fields imbues even its most ebullient performances with melancholy—and vice-versa.
We quite enjoy Gold Fields’ music, but we also wanted to know what their favorite tunes are. They’ve shared their favorite top ten tracks of 2012 with us and we’re excited to share them with you! So without further ado, here are Gold Fields’ Year End Top 10 tracks!
